Ovre Pasvik National Park

Ovre Pasvik National Park lies in the Pasvik valley of Sor-Varanger Municipality, Finnmark county, Norway, established on February 6, 1970 and expanded on August 29, 2003 from an original 66 square kilometers to about 119 square kilometers. Its Siberian-style taiga of old-growth Scots pine, shallow lakes and boglands, drained by the lakes Ellenvatnet and Odevatnet into the Pasvikelva river, holds around 190 flowering plant species typical of Siberian taiga along with denning brown bears, moose and birds rare elsewhere in Norway such as Siberian jays and pine grosbeaks; it forms part of the cross-border Pasvik-Inari Trilateral Park shared with Finland and Russia.
