Prince Edward Island National Park

Prince Edward Island National Park runs along the north shore of Prince Edward Island, Canada, fronting the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Established in 1937 and covering about 27 square kilometers along roughly 60 kilometers of coastline, the park protects broad sand beaches, dunes, freshwater wetlands, and saltmarshes, including nesting habitat for the endangered piping plover recognized as a Canadian Important Bird Area. It also encompasses Green Gables, the farmhouse that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables novels, and the Victorian mansion Dalvay-by-the-Sea. A 1998 extension added the Greenwich sand dune system to the park.
