Riding Mountain National Park

Riding Mountain National Park sits atop Riding Mountain on the Manitoba Escarpment in Manitoba, Canada. Officially declared a national park on May 30, 1933, it covers about 2,969 square kilometers and was set aside to protect three ecosystems that converge in the area, grasslands, upland boreal forest, and eastern deciduous forest, an ecological diversity that stands out against the surrounding prairie farmland. This convergence makes the park an important protected area for western Canada's plant and animal communities.
