Blue Mountains National Park lies in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia, about 80 kilometers west of Sydney. Established in September 1959, it covers about 2,680 square kilometers and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains Area. It shelters a wide range of eucalypt species and habitats, including the rare Wollemi Pine, along with the iconic Three Sisters rock formation and about a third of Australia's bird species, and it is the most visited national park in New South Wales, drawing 5.2 million visitors in 2016.
