Fiordland National Park is a national park in the southwest corner of the South Island of New Zealand, established in 1952 and, at roughly 12,607 square kilometres, the largest of New Zealand's national parks. The park protects a rugged glacially carved landscape of steep-walled fiords, including Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound, dense temperate rainforest and remote mountain wilderness, and it is administered by New Zealand's Department of Conservation. It forms the largest component of the Te Wahipounamu South West New Zealand UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 1990.
