Cabo de Hornos National Park, established April 26, 1945, protects the Wollaston and Hermite island groups in the Tierra del Fuego area of Chile and is the southernmost national park in the world, reached by a roughly twelve hour boat trip from Puerto Williams. It covers about 63,093 hectares, was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2005, endures gale force winds up to 30 percent of the time in winter along with about 2,000 millimeters of annual rainfall, and its highest point is Cerro Hyde at 670 meters.
