Glaciares de Santiago National Park protects high Andean terrain at the northeastern edge of the Santiago Metropolitan Region of Chile, in the commune of San Jose de Maipo, and became an official national park on August 16, 2023. Covering about 75,114 hectares in the upper basins of the Olivares and Colorado rivers, it takes its name from the 368 glaciers within its boundaries, together covering roughly 20,850 hectares, including the Olivares Gamma, Juncal Sur and Volcan Tupungatito glaciers.
