La Campana National Park, in the Cordillera de la Costa of the Valparaiso Region of Chile northwest of Santiago, was established in 1967 and covers about 80 square kilometers. It protects one of the last stands of the Chilean wine palm (Jubaea chilensis), a species once far more widespread, and its landmark peak, Cerro La Campana, was famously climbed by Charles Darwin in 1834 during the voyage of HMS Beagle; UNESCO made it part of the La Campana Penuelas Biosphere Reserve in 1984.
