Llanos de Challe National Park

Llanos de Challe National Park, on the Pacific coast of the Atacama Region of Chile near Huasco, was established in 1994 and covers about 457 square kilometers of coastal desert whose fog dependent lomas ecosystem marks one of its southernmost extensions in South America. It shelters the largest guanaco population in the Atacama Region, coastal wetlands with flamingos and black necked swans, and the threatened plant Leontochir ovallei, and is one of the best places to witness the desierto florido, or desert bloom, phenomenon.
