Tapanti-Cerro de la Muerte Massif National Park lies near Cartago in the Central Conservation Area of Costa Rica, on the edge of the Talamanca mountain range. The park was established on 1 February 1982 and expanded on 14 January 2000 with the incorporation of the Cerro de la Muerte massif area, giving it its current combined name. Covering about 583.2 square kilometers, the park forms part of the Talamanca Range-La Amistad Reserves UNESCO World Heritage listing designated in 1983 and includes the Turberas de Talamanca Ramsar wetland site, designated 2 February 2003.
