IUCN Category III: areas set aside to protect a specific natural monument, which can be a landform, sea mount, submarine cavern, geological feature such as a cave, or a living feature such as an ancient grove, usually small in size with outstanding or unique value attached to scientific, sacred, aesthetic or cultural significance. Belongs here: a protected zone built around one discrete, unusually significant feature rather than a broad landscape. Does not belong here: a large multi-ecosystem park with many features working together, held under National Park.
