Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an archipelagic country in the southeast Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean, with Saint Lucia to the north, Barbados to the east and Grenada to the south. It gained independence from the United Kingdom on 27 October 1979. Its capital is Kingstown.
