Bar Reef is a system of coral reefs off Sri Lanka's Kalpitiya Peninsula in the North Western Province, near Puttalam. It has the greatest biodiversity of any coral reef in the waters around India and is one of the few remaining pristine coral reef systems in Sri Lanka, protected as a marine sanctuary since 1992.
