Breheimen National Park, whose name means home of the glaciers, spans the municipalities of Skjak and Lom in Innlandet county and Luster in Vestland county, Norway, established in 2009 and covering about 1,671 square kilometers. It combines lush valleys long farmed by transhumance grazing with barren plateaus, high peaks and active glaciers shaped over hundreds of thousands of years by ice, avalanches and other geological processes, and is managed under IUCN Category II by the Directorate for Nature Management.
