Cairngorms National Park is a national park in northeast Scotland, established in 2003 as the second of two national parks created by the Scottish Parliament, following Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park the year before. It covers the Cairngorms mountain range and its surrounding hills, and was already the largest national park in the United Kingdom before a 2010 expansion extended it further into Perth and Kinross. As with the UK's other national parks, the designation protects a landscape of farms, villages and estates alongside its mountain and moorland habitat, rather than land set aside from human use.
