Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve is Hong Kong's only marine reserve, distinct from the territory's marine parks, covering about 20 hectares at the far south-east corner of Hong Kong Island mainly between Kau Pei Chau and the rocky coastline. Designated in July 1996 under the Marine Parks Ordinance to protect rocky shore and subtidal habitats, it is managed by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department with on-site support from the Swire Institute of Marine Science, a research faculty of the University of Hong Kong.
