East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is a transboundary protected area in the Eastern Carpathians, designated under UNESCO's Programme on Man and the Biosphere as an area of global importance, spanning parts of Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. It began in 1992 as a Polish-Slovak transboundary designation, with Ukrainian territory added in 1998, and covers about 2,132 square kilometers. The reserve encompasses a number of separately protected areas across the three countries, including national parks and landscape parks in each.
