The Funafuti Conservation Area is a marine conservation area covering about 33 square kilometers of reef, lagoon and small islets on the western side of Funafuti atoll in Tuvalu. Established in 1999, it protects roughly a fifth of the total coral reef area of Funafuti lagoon along with the fish, coral, algae and invertebrates that live there. Its islets serve as nesting sites for the green sea turtle, and the islet of Fualopa hosts a breeding colony of black noddy.
