The Okapi Wildlife Reserve is a wildlife reserve in the Ituri Forest in the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, near the borders with Uganda and South Sudan. Covering about 14,000 square kilometers, it protects roughly one fifth of the Ituri Forest and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 for its large population of endangered okapis and its overall biodiversity. As of 2026 the reserve faces serious threats from armed conflict in the surrounding region.
