Sabkhat al-Jabbul, also called Lake Jabbul, is a large seasonal saline lake and salt flat about 30 kilometres southeast of Aleppo in Syria, the largest natural lake in the country. Part of the area is protected as the Sabkhat al-Jabbul Nature Reserve, a waterfowl site that was designated a Ramsar wetland on March 5, 1998 under reference number 935. As of 2009 the lake covered about 100 square kilometres, its extent stabilized since 1988 by irrigation discharge feeding it after a long period of shrinkage.
