South Downs National Park is a national park in South East England, designated in 2010 as the newest national park in England. It covers about 1,627 square kilometers across Hampshire, West Sussex and East Sussex, stretching roughly 140 kilometers from Winchester in the west to Eastbourne in the east. The park includes chalk downland such as the cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, along with the wooded Western Weald. The South Downs Way National Trail runs entirely within its boundaries, the only National Trail to do so. About 108,000 people live within the park, and it draws around 18 million visitors a year. It is managed by the South Downs National Park Authority, which became fully operational in 2011.
