Taimyrsky Nature Reserve is a Russian zapovednik, or strict nature reserve, in the northern lowlands of Siberia on the Taimyr Peninsula, on the coast of the Laptev Sea within Krasnoyarsk Krai, about 120 kilometers east of Norilsk. It was established in 1979 to protect the breeding grounds of the red-breasted goose and the summer calving grounds of wild reindeer, along with the biodiversity of Lake Taimyr. The reserve covers 1,781,928 hectares and was recognized as a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere reserve in 1995.
