Lorraine is a historical region of eastern France, today part of the Grand Est administrative region, comprising the four departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, and Vosges across 23,547 square kilometers. Bordering Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany, Lorraine has long carried strategic weight in European affairs and reflects a blend of French and Germanic cultural influence from its complex history.
