Manchuria

Manchuria is the historical and geographic name for the region of Northeast Asia now comprising the three northeastern provinces of China, Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, and sometimes parts of eastern Inner Mongolia. Bordered by Russia's Far East and Korea, it was the homeland of the Manchu people who founded China's Qing dynasty, and later became a heavily industrialized and contested territory in the twentieth century, briefly ruled as the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo.
