Podolia is a historic region of Eastern Europe in the west central and southwestern parts of Ukraine and northeastern Moldova, covering roughly 40,000 square kilometers of elongated plateau and fertile farmland. Bounded by the Southern Bug and the Dniester River, the region is known for rich soil and agricultural output, particularly cherries, mulberries, melons, and cucumbers.
