Moraine Formation

Glacial and Periglacial Processes

The accumulation of rock debris carried and deposited by a glacier along its margins, at its snout, or beneath its base, building ridges that mark the glacier's former extent. Terminal moraines record a glacier's farthest advance, while lateral and ground moraines record its flanks and retreat.
