The Alpine Region is the cultural and political macro-region of Europe centered on the Alps, spanning parts of France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany and Slovenia. Bound together by a shared mountain geography, a tradition of transhumance and alpine agriculture, and a modern economy built substantially around winter tourism, the region cuts across national and linguistic boundaries with German, French, Italian, Romansh and Slovene all spoken within it.
