The Pacific Northwest is the cultural and geographic region of northwestern North America along the Pacific coast, generally encompassing the U.S. states of Washington and Oregon together with the Canadian province of British Columbia. Defined by its temperate rainforests, rugged coastline and volcanic Cascade peaks, the region shares a mild, wet maritime climate and a cultural identity built around outdoor recreation, forestry and, more recently, technology industries.
