The Rio Grande Valley, also called the RGV, is a region in the southernmost part of Texas along the border with Mexico, formed by the floodplain of the Rio Grande near its mouth and encompassing several metropolitan and micropolitan areas centered on cities including Brownsville and McAllen. Nearly ninety percent of its population identifies as Hispanic, and the bilingual region combines agricultural land with historically underserved communities.
