Tierra del Fuego is the archipelago at the southernmost tip of South America, separated from the mainland by the Strait of Magellan and divided between Chile and Argentina. A windswept, sparsely populated land of subantarctic forest, steppe and glaciated mountains, it marks the gateway to the Drake Passage and Antarctica beyond.
