Volhynia is a historic region of Central and Eastern Europe lying between southeastern Poland, southwestern Belarus, and northwestern Ukraine, with its territory today spread mainly across the Volyn Oblast of Ukraine and parts of Poland and Belarus. Its borders have shifted repeatedly under competing powers over the centuries, and the region has long been marked by ethnic and religious diversity, centered on cities including Lutsk and Rivne.
