The Guadalquivir is the fifth-longest river on the Iberian Peninsula and the second-longest river running its entire length within Spain. It is the only major navigable river in Spain, currently navigable from Seville to the Gulf of Cadiz, though in Roman times it was navigable as far inland as Cordoba and opened into a wide natural harbor at the coast.
