It is located in the Southeast Region, bordered by Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso do Sul, plus the Atlantic Ocean. Its 2025 population was 46,081,801 across an area of 248,219.5 square kilometers, and its capital is the city of Sao Paulo.
