States of the United States

This group collects the first-level administrative divisions of the United States that the Geography atlas carries under its States or Territories type, drawn from the fifty American states plus any federal territory the atlas records at this level. Membership follows the atlas's own existing associated-with link from each division to the United States, already recorded on the division's own entity, so grouping by country here reorganises how the States or Territories: State subcategory is browsed rather than adding a new claim about any single division. A reader looking for a specific American state can go straight to this group instead of scanning all 127 divisions across nine countries on one page.
