Baghdad Governorate, also known as the Baghdad Province, is the capital governorate of Iraq. It includes the capital Baghdad as well as the surrounding metropolitan area, and by a margin of almost three to one is the most populous of Iraq's 18 governorates despite being one of the smallest by area. It had a population of 9,780,429 at the 2024 census across an area of 5,200 square kilometers.
