Francisco Morazan is one of the departments of Honduras, in the country's central region. Its capital is Tegucigalpa, which also serves as the national capital of Honduras. The department's terrain is mountainous, with pine-forested ranges separated by valleys including Guaimaca, Talanga and Amarateca, and its higher elevations support cloud forest, including La Tigra National Park and Cerro Uyuca. The department's southeast holds Pacific dry forest habitat, while its north includes the Montana de la Flor area, home to the Jicaque people. It is named for Francisco Morazan, a nineteenth-century Central American political and military leader active during the era of the Central American Federation.
