The East Slavic plain and the former Warsaw Pact states north of the Balkans: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine, spanning the continent's largest expanse of flat interior. Russia's own territory continues into Northern Asia, but the UN geoscheme keeps the whole country in this European subregion rather than splitting it at the Urals.
