The sovereign states of Oceania's Melanesian, Micronesian and Polynesian island groups: Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu in Melanesia; the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru and Palau in Micronesia; and Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu in Polynesia. Grouped as one heading here, distinct from Australia and New Zealand's own subregion, because each of the three source subregions held too few atlas countries on its own to clear this browse page's twenty-heading ceiling; the underlying UN M49 geoscheme still recognizes Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia as its own finer-grained tier one level down.
