Regions organized around a shared sea or physical feature rather than one continent, whose member countries span more than one of the UN M49 continental groups, such as the Mediterranean rim, which touches Southern Europe, Northern Africa and Western Asia at once. Belongs here: a supra-national grouping the M49 continental scheme cannot place in a single continent without cutting it in half. Does not belong here: a region that, on inspection, does sit wholly within one continent, which belongs under that continent instead, or the body of water itself, held under bodyofwater.
