The Geirangerfjord is a fjord in Stranda Municipality in Norway's Moere og Romsdal county, branching about 15 kilometers off the larger Sunnylvsfjorden and fed by the Geirangelva river, with the village of Geiranger at its head. It reaches a maximum width of about 1.5 kilometers and is known for steep, waterfall-lined walls that have made it one of Norway's most visited tourist destinations. In 2005 UNESCO inscribed the Geirangerfjord as a World Heritage Site jointly with the nearby Naeroyfjord, under the designation West Norwegian Fjords, recognizing the pair as an outstanding example of fjord landscape.
