Abomey, also known as Agbome, is the capital of the Zou Department in Benin. As of 2025 the commune of Abomey covers 142 square kilometers and has a population of 96,974. The city houses the Royal Palaces of Abomey, a group of traditional houses inhabited by the Kings of Dahomey from 1600 to 1900, which UNESCO designated a World Heritage Site in 1985.
