Bamenda, also known as Abakwa and Mankon Town, is a city in northwestern Cameroon and the capital of the Northwest Region, with a population of about 600,000. It lies about 366 kilometers northwest of the national capital, Yaounde, and is known for its cool climate and hilly, scenic setting.
