Chennai, also known as Madras, is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. It is administered by the Greater Chennai Corporation, incorporated in 1688, the second oldest municipal corporation in the world after the City of London Corporation.
