Tamil Nadu is the southernmost state of India, the tenth largest Indian state by area and the sixth largest by population. It is the home of the Tamils, who speak Tamil, the state's official language. The 2011 census recorded a population of 72,147,030 across an area of 130,058 square kilometers, and its capital is Chennai.
