Ciudad Bolivar, formerly known as Angostura and St. Thomas de Guyana, is the capital of Bolivar State in southeastern Venezuela. It lies at the point where the Orinoco River narrows to about 1.6 kilometers in width, the site of the first bridge across the river, and serves as a major river port for Venezuela's eastern regions.
