Dessie is a town in the South Wollo Zone of Ethiopia's Amhara Region, about 400 kilometers north of the capital, Addis Ababa. It sits at an elevation between 2,470 and 2,550 meters and has a population of more than 200,000 spread across more than 30 wards.
