El Qoseir is a city in eastern Egypt on the Red Sea coast, populated for approximately 5,000 years. Its ancient Egyptian name was Tjau, and during the Ptolemaic era it was known by the Greek name Myos Hormos; historically it served as the endpoint of the Wadi Hammamat trail, an important route linking Egypt to the Red Sea.
