El Shorouk, also spelled Elshorouk, is a satellite city in the Eastern Area of Cairo, Egypt, considered an extension of Heliopolis. It is a third generation new city established by presidential decree 325 of 1995, administered by the New Urban Communities Authority, and is mostly residential with a limited number of malls and projects compared with nearby Nasr City and New Cairo.
