George is a city in the Western Cape province of South Africa, on the Garden Route roughly halfway between Cape Town and Gqeberha, on a plateau between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean. Named after Britain's King George III and established in 1811, it serves as the administrative and commercial hub of the Garden Route District Municipality and had a population of 157,394 at a 2020 estimate.
