Iringa is a city in the southern highlands of Tanzania, serving as the administrative capital of Iringa Region, with a population of about 202,490. Its name comes from the Hehe word lilinga, meaning fort. Iringa's relatively cool climate, unusual for Tanzania, has made it a draw for tourists from colder parts of the world, and the city lies near Ruaha National Park, one of Africa's largest national parks.
